1. Never, Ever Buy Land Directly from an Omonile
Omonile” refers to local land grabbers or touts who claim land ownership. They are notorious for causing trouble and engaging in fraudulent activities. Always buy land from established and reputable real estate companies. These companies have a legal framework and can offer you the necessary documentation and security.

3. Research the Owners
It’s not just the company you need to research; you also need to look into the owners. Knowing who is behind the company can give you insight into its reliability and trustworthiness.
4. Watch a Video of the Land
Request a video of the land you’re buying. This helps you get a visual sense of the property and its surroundings, which can be very telling.
5. Send a Trusted Individual to Inspect the Property
If you can’t be there in person, send someone you trust to inspect the property. This could be a realtor or a property lawyer. They can verify the land’s legitimacy and ensure everything is in order. We can help you with this service. My name is Arinze Ewuzie, a Real Estate Consultant and Digital Marketer. I’ve helped many people achieve their dream of land ownership, and today, we can help you inspect the land. You can contact me Here
6. Take a Trip to Nigeria
If you’re still unsure, take a trip to Nigeria to see the property yourself. However, never go alone. Ensure a realtor or a trusted individual accompanies you for your safety and to avoid being deceived.
7. Ask for the Documents of the Land
Always ask for the land’s documentation. Verify the type of documentation and ensure it is authentic. Key documents include the Deed of Assignment and the survey plan. Also, ask for the C of O if it has.
8. Participate in the Allocation Virtually
Many real estate companies now offer virtual allocation of land. Participate in these sessions to see the process and ensure transparency.
9. Ensure Your Documents Are Sent to You
Make sure you receive your land documents directly in your country of residence. Never leave the original documents with anyone, not even family members, unless you trust them completely. Possession of the original documents gives someone the power to sell your property without your permission.
10. Follow the Brand Online
Stay engaged with the real estate company’s online presence. Support them publicly when they do well. Remember, their success is your success. Be aware that if a company goes bankrupt, even a court might not be able to recover your money.
I am Arinze Ewuzie, a Real Estate Consultant and Digital Marketer. I’ve helped many people achieve their dream of land ownership, and today, I can help you too. Together, we can make your dream of owning property in Nigeria a reality without the fear of being scammed.
